Officers from the Norwalk Police Department were dispatched to the People’s Bank on Belden Avenue at approximately 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, where there was a reported robbery. The teller said that a man had entered the bank, stating that he had a gun and demanding money.
According to police, after obtaining cash, the suspect - later identified as Bridgeport resident Mark Dallaire - then fled on foot. Officers were able to secure the bank and received information that Dallaire may be on Harbor Avenue.
Police said that the officers located Dallaire, and “based on evidence recovered at the bank and evidence recovered at the scene, to include the stolen money, Dallaire was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing.”
Dallaire, 59, who is currently a supervised person with the Department of Corrections Parole and Community Services, was arrested without further incident and charged with robbery and larceny. He is currently being held on a $200,000 bond. No return court date has been announced.
